Rightly or wrongly, our ancient ancestors viewed our planet as the centre of the solar system. Nicolaus Copernicus, with the encouragement of astrologer Georg Joachim Rheticus, changed the way in which the collective understands the heavens. It is our own unique location on this planet that gives us a personal perspective of how the sky works. If I live in the Northern Hemisphere what do I see differently from those who live in the Southern Hemisphere? In this workshop we look at how the celestial equator and the earth’s obliquity change our perspectives.
